Minnesota is home to 20 Fortune 500 companies and 34 Fortune 1,000 companies – a testament to its ability to help businesses thrive. All but one Fortune 500 firm is based in the Metro MSP region.

Target and 3M are among Fortune’s 2007 “Top 20 Most Admired Companies.” Target also ranks first in innovation, outperforming Wal-Mart as the world’s most admired general merchandiser.

Nine other Minnesota companies are singled out among Fortune’s 306 “Most Admired Companies.”
- Best Buy, General Mills and Target are considered “Blue Ribbon Companies” for earning multiple Fortune distinctions – including “Best Companies to Work For,” “Global 500” and “100 MBA Employers.

Inc.’s Fastest Growing Companies (2007)
Ten Minnesota companies qualified for the “Inc. 500” – a tally of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. All but one firm is located in the Metro MSP region. The list was expanded in 2007 to include the top 5,000 businesses driving the U.S. economy, based on the percentage of revenue growth during 2003-2006.
